Personal Development
At Riverside Primary School and Nursery, we are passionate about preparing every child to become a happy, responsible and effective citizen. Our values-based approach is threaded through our entire school and ensures children develop their character to be prepared for life beyond school. We consistently promote British values and our school values.

The Rights Respecting School Award
At Riverside Primary School and Nursery, we are a Rights-Respecting School. Children’s rights and values are at the heart of our ethos. The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) journey supports schools in embedding the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC or CRC).
Our journey has begun; we have been awarded our Bronze award and are working towards our silver award. We are doing this by:
- Informing the whole school community
- Beginning to know about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
- Creating a pupil steering group
- Completing an action plan
The Articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child
The RRSA helps our school community learn about children’s rights and put them into practice. There is a focus on what children (Rights Holders) do and what adults (Duty Bearers) do.
The UNCRC and the articles can be seen below:
